The design approach aims to develop a proposal which will be able to adapt during its whole life, responding to the strong need of resilience that future building are facing. So, it has been driven by an accurate analysis of climate trends, but also on a deep research in innovative and sustainable building materials, the local cultural environment and on what will happen to workspaces in the future.
The final product is a synthesis of tradition and technology which form has been shaped by the local environment and people needs.
The proposed design integrates into its architectural expression all environmental principles coming from the climate analysis and the environmental matrix to re-establish a constant relationship with the climatic context of Changzhou. In this sense natural ventilation strategies take advantages from predominant winds directions; the South facade is designed to control solar radiation maximizing solar access in winter and self-shading indoor spaces in summer due to floors overhangs; on Western and Eastern façades integrated vertical blind are designed to avoid glare and traditional office spaces are mainly oriented to North to maximize daylight access. The combination of others passive strategies, such as the design of transitional spaces that offer a variety of semi-outdoor conditions with different comfort perceptions enlarging the mild period and encouraging coupling indoor and outdoor, and green technologies, like PV panels and water treatment, contribute to tackle building carbon emissions and to improve users comfort level.
Energy strategy is not limited to the building but, in addition, a deeper analysis of district potential are carried on proposing energy smart greed at district level to manage resources (water, energy and waste) in a more efficient way.
At the same time, researches on Chinese habits and future trend in office building balance innovation and tradition in the building functional programme creating an innovative prototype of Chinese workspace.

Finally, modularity, flexibility and short construction time are guarantee using prefabricated wood beams easy to be assembled in side with only three different joins.
